NIACC Student Dormitory and Commons Building, Mason City, Iowa

Henkel provided construction management services for a new 106,500 square foot student dormitory and commons building. The new dormitory has a capacity of over 400 students and includes common areas and meeting spaces. The three story structure includes a tiered courtyard and a rainscreen system with glass curtainwall and windows throughout the façade.

Upon completion of the new student housing complex the existing NIACC dormitory was completely demolished and the site was restored to a green space.

“Henkel’s Construction Management team has provided a tremendous amount of value to our project. Their ability to analyze costs, provide recommendations, and manage all aspects of the project allows us to continue business as usual on campus,” said Kathy Grove, Vice President for Administrative Services at NIACC. “This means we are able to continue using our current facility as the new one is being built. This coordination, along with the staging of all the contractors, was vital to the timeline we have set out. We are very pleased to have Henkel as part of our team.”

Over the past five decades Henkel has completed over $35 million in construction work on the NIACC campus including the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, Muse Norris Conference Center, Recreation Center, Activity Center, Murphy Manufacturing & Technology Center, EMST Building, and the North Iowa Community Auditorium.
