Henkel Construction Company completed a renovation of the Birdsall’s Ice Cream Company in Mason City, Iowa. An institution since 1931, the building has not had a renovation since the 1970s. Key for the owners and customers was to keep the nostalgic look from the 60s and 70s, including the boomerang counters, the horseshoe-shaped eating counter with low bar stools, and the iconic bright red and white colors.
In addition to the facelift, the entire mechanical and electrical systems were replaced, along with other back-of-house upgrades. Birdsall’s Ice Cream continues to make and serve homemade ice cream.
