Riverview Park’s multi-phase construction project includes an outdoor concert stage, custom playground, donor/history plaza, walking loop, and historical lighting.
We built the steel canopy and trusses, poured the front piers, and added colored lighting to the structure.
Johnson Machine Works fabricated the steel canopy structure and cut it into pieces for shipment to the site. Fitting the various radius and angle pieces together correctly challenged our team’s brain power.
In addition to difficulties posed by building during Covid-19, we were just setting steel when the derecho (costliest thunderstorm event in U.S. history) struck Des Moines!
Our final touch was a new entry sign to the park on the far side of the pedestrian bridge.
